if someone has no cervix, can they still have children? my good friend who was a victim of rape when she was fourteen is wondering if she can have kids, because her cervix was very damaged, as well as the walls of her vagina and uterus.

unless she's had a hysterectomy she still has a cervix your cervix is the lower part of your uterus. vaginal lacerations heal scarring of the cervix does not always lead to a c/section many women have leep procedures ( surgical laser removal of part of the cervix) for removal of pre cancerous lesions and still dilate and deliver babies without problems but she really should consult her gyn Doctor to fully understand the extent of any if any permanent physical injury

A HYSTERECTOMY IS A REMOVAL OF THE UTERUS.

If she has had a hysterectomy as you stated she CANNOT get pregnant, ever.

Without a uterus there is no pathway for the sperm and there is nowhere for an egg to implant itself, or to hold the fetus for that matter. For your friend adoption or possibly a surogate (if her ovaries are in tact) is the only option for children.

Getting your fallopian tubes tied is called a tubal ligation, not a hysterectomy.

This is really a question for her doctor. Depending on the extent of the damage and whether she required surgical reconstruction, she may have serious trouble carrying a pregnancy to term. It may not be a good idea. But physical inability to bear a child does not need to mean giving up on being a mother if she really wants to be one. She can consider other options, and with medical help she still may be able to have children. She just needs to go to a gynecologist and make sure. And she'll probably need excellent prenatal and obstetric care.

a hysterectomy means her fallopian tubes have been tied so she can't have children. it is possible the procedure can be undone. since her vaginal walls and uterus have been damaged, i would suggest it would be safer if your friend didn't have children because her uterus might not even be able to hold an unborn child for the entire 9 months of pregnancy.

Only a doctor can tell her. I would love to think that yes, she can get pregnant after being mutilated.

If sperm can get to a fertilized egg, and the egg can implant successfully in the uterus, then the doc can sew her cervix so that it stays closed enough to carry a baby, and could give her a cesarean if it would be dangerous to go through labor.

I hope she can do it.

If there is no cervix at all then sperm can't get to the egg, so pergnancy isn't possible that way. If the uterus is still intact it may be possible to have a baby by artificial insemination and then have a cesarean section to give birth.

Well, she should go see a ob/gyn and have them make that determination. Only a professional is capable of knowing how much damage and wether she is infertile, etc. My understanding is that you do need a cervix to carry a child to full term. I wish your friend the best and hope everything works out for her.

Only is sperm can enter the uterus can she get pregnant.

Or she can have in vitro fertilization done. Then a caesarian section for delivery.
