I'd say no later than 9 or 10 o'clock. I'd also assume that anywhere said 12 year old is going a parent is taking them, and picking them up, so it's really not an issue. 12 years old is way too young to turn loose at the malls or movie theaters, especially on the weekends. There are too many high school kids in those places.

well, if i had a 12 year old, she would be home 9:00 at the latest. girls that age need at least 8 1/2 hours of sleep, so a 10 'o clock bed time isn't too great. i wouldn't want my 12 year old to be out on the streets by herself or anything, so i would only et her out with some friends with that friend's mom, not her big sister or brother or anything- only with supervision from an adult. make sure she takes a cell phone so you can call and make sure she is really with the parent and is OK.

That would depend upon what kind of neighborhood the 12-year-old lives in. There are certain areas where kids aren't even safe during daylight hours. Then there are small, tight knit, communities where the kids are virtually safe at any time--but watch out for stranger-danger.

I am old fashioned, and I firmly do not believe a 12 year old should be out in the evenings without adult supervision. I do not believe they should be dropped off at movie theaters, unless it is a matinee. A 12 year old needs to be with a parent, or at least an adult.

Depends on where, with whom, what activity adults in vicinity and maturity of child. Just outside playing, in by sundown - regardless of maturity. With other trusted adults/kids depends on end of event/overnight. Otherwise 10pm. Regardless of maturity. If hanging out with friends @ mall picked up by 10pm. These times could be earlier based on when started as well as how long activity is. Hours and Hours out is different than and older youth.

depends on how they are getting home. if their best friends' mom is driving them home, then 10 - 11 should be ok. but if his friends' teenage older brother is driving him home in his rusted out camaro then 9 pm.
if he is going down the street to a friends house and walking or riding a bike home -- depends on the hood.
i don't think 12 yr olds should be out by themselves too much. there's way too many perverts out or other bad things they can get into.

By dinner time which is 6 pm. It is too easy for kids to get in trouble these days.
During the winter it is usually earlier around 5 due to it getting darker sooner.

I would think it would depend on the maturity of the 12 yr old and the activity that he/she wants to stay out for. Best guesstimate would be 9pm.
