I would Like to get into politics as our goverment does not seem to have enought balls to care for the Australian people.
The goverment is thinking of Taxing Rain water collected from your gutters and I know for a Fact that some Counsells are allready doing it in the Latrobe Valley area, thay send you your water bill with an estimated amount of water your tank should have collected and then charge you so much for that water.
The water board have nothing to do with water collected from your roof or putting pipes under ground so thay should keep there noses out of your back yard.
When perchassing water tanks make sure you dont give out your address to where it will be instalIed. Because that will be the goverments and counsells next step to find out who has got water tanks.
Nature provides rain to be collected then let it be it saves water being used from the catchment areas.

If someone like Pauline Hanson could do it, I guess you could too.

To michael da man: actually they are not trying to encourage us to collect the water. What they want to do is tax us for doing it. Here is part of an email that was leaked:

THE Bracks Government is outraged at a leaked federal proposal to tax rainwater collected from roofs.

In the email, National Water Commission chief Ken Matthews says, "Legally, all water in Australia is vested in governments."

Mr Matthews' email continued: "Governments have not yet considered the capture of water from roofs in rainwater tanks to be of sufficient magnitude to warrant the issuing of specific entitlements to use this class of water.

"However, if rainwater tanks were to be adopted on a large scale such that their existence impacts significantly on the integrated water cycle, consideration could be given to setting an entitlement regime for this class of water."

Such a regime already exists for farmers catching rainwater and storing it in dams.

Sorry I cant be of more help though. I am not sure how to get into politics. Maybe head to your local member and ask them their advice

Obviouly they are encouraging you TO collect the water. Its seems obtrusive I'll admit but when a country has the kind of drought Australia has they have to do something. Good luck! PS: here in the States a huge pile of money is the ticket into politics but its considered to be an investment.

The Australian Government is filled with SCUM. At one side of the spectrum you have a party that's social democrats (current opposition) all interested in workers unions and not all Australians and on the other side you have conservative capitalists (current government) who's interested in aiding big business at the expense of the majority of the population. It's always about money with the Australia Government, they don't care about the will of the people. SCUM!

The GOVERNMENT is scum, not you!
