tony hawk's p8? ps2?

if any one of you has tony hawk's project 8 please help me out here in the training to do a manual ground trick they tell press square i press while standing nothing happens. i press while running nothing happens. i press while jumping without any direction along with it nothing happens. tell me what is wrong

You press the square while you are on the skateboard. The only way to manual on foot is to ollie and caveman into a manual.

start a manual and press square while in a manual...
