The girl who cuts my hair is Vietnamese and over time we've become closer as friends. She 22 and the prettiest and sweetest girl I've ever met.

She's going to Vietnam for 2 months to visit home and family, and I would like to get her something before she leaves. We're just friends so I don't want to get her anything "romantic" or suggestive. I just want her to know I'll be thinking about her and will keep her in my thoughts until she returns.

Maybe I'd like to get a little something she can take with her, or maybe some spending money? I don't know. Any suggestions?

dude.. two months is a long time. it will give your hair a little time to grow back. i'm willing to bet you get your hair cut every few days. but seriously, disposable cameras or a digital one so she can show you the pics when she gets back, a box of good chocolates for her mother and a bottle of good Bourbon for her dad. you should also buy small gifts for any siblings. i doubt you could find a vietnamese phone or internet card so give her twenty dollars and tell her if she wants to say hi there's an internet cafe on every corner. ring voice is the voip that my wife uses. you might also want to google tet and read up on viet culture.

You know what'd be cool? Some sort of camera. There are some really cool ones available that aren't too much money that have some pretty cool features. I got this one that you can put regular film in and it takes four consecutive shots on one negative (so basically captures action), it's really cool and would be fun to use with her family, especially people her age a younger. And then, when she gets back she could show you som fun pictures too!
Books are always good when travelling too though because of how long the plane ride is, especially to Vietnam. Though, you could also get her a nice travel cushion, becuase there are some really cool ones out there if you look around. And, flights can get really uncomfortable. I can't think of anything else.. but if I do, I'll let you know!

Get her a digital camera so she can take pictures of her trip and share them with you when she comes back.

My wife's in Saigon right now waiting for her immigration visa. We both miss each other very much, but we continue to share our lives together with pictures of what we do every day. It's the closest thing to actualy being there with her.

Anotehr thing you can do is get a plane ticket and visit her while she's there. You will have a great time in Vietnam even if you two are not yet romantically involved.

Good luck to you!

Admit it. You're in luv with this "prettiest and sweetest" girl that you've "ever" met because you will be "thinking about her and will keep her in your thoughts until she returns."
C'mon! For what it worths, if this prettiest and sweetest girl is still very Vietnamese (a lot of them are Americanized), get her a book to read on the plane- A book about friendship that's so close to love- and don't forget to put inside a pretty flower. Vietnamese girls like to keep flower petals inside books for scent and daydreaming.

a camera is a good idea. She can show you some pictures of her country as well. Although she might already have a camera of course.

Some candy/ food for her family, pocket money. Maybe even some clothes you don't wear anymore so she can give them to her family.

Or give her some credit on skype so she can call you every couple of days.

Just a suggestion, if you are up to it get her a mp3 player for the flight. That is if she doesn't have one already. You dont' need to spend alot but load it up with songs and give it to her. i bet she would appreciate it very much. I did this i got a cheap used ipod video and a charger from a close friend and filled it up with music and pictures of me and my family for my girlfriend, she traveled to asia too and loved it alot. If not get her something she can use on her trip to put up with the long flight. ( Books?)

Yeah, Viets are usually hotter like that (no joke)
Get her a book, or maybe some Asia DVDs
(if you have no idea what I am talking about,
go to www.trungtamasia.com/)
Spending money is good too, because of the whole poverty thing there.

the most precious and not romantic gift to give to a girl is giving her her own ao dai
it showed her that she is a true vietnamese girl.
They can be found at Vietnamese market and store, and if you can't find them, order online.
If you don't know what they look like, just search for it
