Beside for beauty and fashion, what's the purpose of hair in humans?
I realized that bald men can also live a lifetime even without a hair.
Is hair on top of the head is also a vestige (a part of the body without any function) or like a dimple (it makes you "cute" but it has no sense other than that)?

It is put there by God to insulate the Sun
from the "brightness" of the human brain !!!

Hi. Most heat loss from the body occurs at the head. In a cold (as in Ice Age) environment the hair served a purpose.

because way back when in the stone ages (around the time of the making of stone henge, by the way. I've been there i know) there were these warm weather penguins who were super hungry. there main diet included human heads. but the humans did not enjoy having there heads eaten. so they asked god if there was any thing the could do to stop the tropical penguins from eating their heads. he said, "grow some freaking hair up there! if Jesus can do it so can u!" so they did. and that is why we grow hair on our heads today. =] thank you for asking.

Hair on your head is very important.
Maybe not as important as 5,000 years ago, since we have hats and caps now.
But heat from your body is released and received mostly from your head. So hair is a form of shade. It also, obvioulsy helps in cold weather as well.
Almost everything we have has a reason...such as eyebrows and eyelashes (keeping particles out of your eyes).

A major advantage is that it keeps your head from getting sun burned. I got a buzz cut once and ooooooh did my head get burned.
