I dont ignore then, nor drink with them. I will give them a bag of food, or a warm blanket on a cold night or even just a smile if I have nothing else to give.

well, i don't see to many bums where i live but if your talking about homeless people no i don't ignore them i've been known to give them a helping hand or some food.

Neither. I have given them money, and I always speak, if they are conscious. One place I lived we had a wino instead of a doorman. He was cool. Always called me 'my lady'! I used to give him a buck to open the door for me when my hands were full. Nice old guy.
