Jet Jaguar (or something close to that). I remember MST3K making fun of him with a rewrite of his theme song.
"Infra-Man" was a 70's Japanese movie where the hero had to defeat all the monsters, but I don't remember him growing to the size of Godzilla.

I don't remember but I did see that lame movie. Something made it grow by accident, I think. At the time it seriously reminded me of Ultra man which was a lame tv show. For some reason....the name Alzeron keeps coming to my mind. Heck, it's been decades ago. I'll keep searching for ya.
Well, It just came to me. It was a 1973 movie called Godzilla VS. Megalon. The robot in question was named Jet Jaguar and I was correct in saying he inexpicably grew to a giant size and then at the end, returned to human size.
Wow, what a memory. lol

Ultraman, in which Hayata of the Science Patrol was killed in a collision with a space vehicle from Nebula M-78. The space vehicle's pilot gave Hayata his life, and through use of the Beta Capsule, Hayata could transform into Ultraman, who was giant. The did use a not-too-modified Godzilla costume for at least one creature. For more info,
