Hello I am a girl who's 13 years old. I'm not really the average teen. To make long story short, Mike (age 10), my next door neighbor, has become a big part of my life. He's like my little brother. We see each other every day and we tell each other EVERYTHING. But now, I've been giving up weekends, hanging out with friends, going places, and that stuff. Instead of hanging out with a friend its helping Mike with homework or his school project. I spend so much time with him people actually think we're family. And if you are thinking I'm in love with him, well you're wrong. But I can't just spend less time with him. I need him just as he needs me. Both of our dads are almost never home, his mom is busy with 2 other kids, and my house is just messed. Lately my friends have been wondering why I don't see them much.

I like my friends and all but here's why I'm not the average teen: I'd rather spend time with family meaning Mike.

One of my roommates was a full ten years older than me. Granted, I was 18 and he was 28, but the principal is still the same. I also used to go out and get drinks with an ex-teacher who was more than 12 years my senior (male teacher, strictly male-bonding drinks)

There's nothing wrong with hanging out with somebody younger than you, espescially if you think they need you. I can tell you that I learned so much from those two men and I'm infinitely grateful that they took the time to be my friend. For a ten year old, this is just as, if not more, important.

Since my experience with the two guys I mentioned, I've turned around and passed on my own personal experience with those younger than me. I met a 14 year old girl online who really needed a friend, and I was. She's told me that it really helps her to talk to somebody who's neutral to her issues. Then her dad started asking if I was an online predator or something, and I had to have a long conversation with him explaining why I wasn't in anyway interested in kidnapping her and eating her face, but I'm sure you won't have that problem.

Your priorities lie wherever your heart lies. If you think this kid is a good kid, and needs you, and you need him, then hang. Help him with his homework. Even introduce him to your friends. You could all hang out sometime. Watch a movie, whatever.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. Friends are like chocolate, the more, the better, but they'll never give you acne...well, some of them will, but Mike sounds like he won't.

Cheers, Good luck

No way! I'm like that too. I have friends I like to hang out once and awhile but overall I think family time is a little bit better. I guess we both or not average teens then, huh? ;)

%. up the toddler, make powerful she/he's superb and on the comparable time holler to whoever's on the front door to attend on the comparable time as working to the kitchen to demonstrate the faucet off. it is going to in uncomplicated words take some seconds. answer the telephone and ask the caller to hold or call returned later. If the customer is somebody time-honored, hand the toddler over. Or have his/her help to get the clothing.
