just plug in the usb port and windows will detect and setup by itself. To check click at my computer.

If the drive is not formatted and partitioned, then it will not show up when you plug the USB wire in.
After plugging it in, open control panel>
Administration Tools>
Computer Management>
Disk Management>
You will find the disk device listed at the end of the list. Right click on it and select Partition, set it up as a simple disk, NTFS. Then Format it. Now, since it has a drive letter, it will show up in My Computer.
