I was in a fight today and got kicked on my right knee, very bottom of the knee cap towards the left hand side. I saw a doctor, got ex-rays everything looks fine. He said take ibprofen ice it several times a day for 15 min, elevate it, and rest for seven days!!! Is it going to
hurt for seven days??!!! It feels stiff and its a very dull pain. Will it hurt tomorrow? Will it be really sore tomorrow? Does that mean I can't work? Do I need to call in? How much pain should I be in to call in? I don't want to hurt it worse. What do you think is wrong with it?

Sounds like you got kicked pretty hard. The problem is that you most likely have internal (as well as external) bruising, which hurts worse than extrnal bruising since it is most likely on the muscle/tendon surrounding the knee cap. This WILL most likely hurt pretty intensely (if you move around it will hurt, but walking it out is still good so the muscles don't tighten) for the next 5 days at least. Take Ibuprofen as reccomended (Ibuprofen causes the swelling to go down significantly and helps the inflamation/bruising to keep at a minimum) and drink plenty of water.

Everyone heals a bit differently and has different pain thesholds. If there's no swelling or water(feels like water under the skin - doctor would have drained it) it probably won't be long in recovery. On whether you should call work or not, it kind of depends on what you do. If you're doing a lot a heavy lifting, or even if you are walking quite a bit it may be a good idea. Personally, I'd wait until the morning to decide.

if u ice it like doc said then use heat on it for 24 hours the pain should be on the mild
side for a couple of days. yes it will hurt tomorrow and possibly the next day, but should get better after that. it sounds like you bruised theknee cap ligament.

I don't know what's wrong with it, but yes it will probably hurt tomorrow. If you get up in the morning and it does hurt bad, then you should call in.
