Yahoo! was founded in 1994 by Stanford Ph.D. students David Filo and Jerry Yang. It began as a hobby and has evolved into a global brand that has changed the way people communicate with each other, conduct transactions and access, share, and create information. Today, led by an executive team that includes Chairman and CEO Terry Semel, Chief Operating Officer Dan Rosensweig, Chief Financial Officer Susan Decker, Chief Technology Officer Farzad Nazem, and Co-Founders/Chief Yahoos Jerry Yang and David Filo, Yahoo! Inc. has become the world's largest global online network of integrated services. Yahoo! is a leading Internet brand globally and the most trafficked Internet destination worldwide. The company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with offices around the globe.
Yahoo!'s mission is to connect people to their passions, their communities, and the world’s knowledge. To ensure this, Yahoo! offers a broad and deep array of products and services that provide a differentiated user experience and consumer insights by leveraging connections, data, and user participation.

Jerry Yang and David Filo are the founders of Yahoo! They are the ones who created the Yahoo! web site. They were studying at Stanford, and started their project in a trailer in the grounds of Stanford. They quickly realized that there was nobody out there who was indexing the web in a way that people could understand and digest. The rest is history. Now, one in two internet users on the planet use Yahoo! every month.
Jerry and David are still working at Yahoo! Their job title is "Chief Yahoo!"

"It was founded by Stanford graduate students Jerry Yang and David Filo in January of 1994."
Wikipedia generally has the answers to these things. Only problem is, some professors discourage the use (or the overuse) of Wikipedia due to its potential to not be credible. In this case, though, it's trustworthy.
God bless.
