Yes. It would explain why that kid in the back looks like he should be on the planet of the apes.

I think FACT should be taught in school. There is evidence that some animals have evolved throughout the centuries, as evidenced by many species on Madagascar, for example. There is no evidence, however, that men, as a species, evolved from anything - hence, the missing link. If there was a link between men and apes, they would have found it by now. Yes to the animal evolution, no to the human race evolution.

Yes they should, because the theory of evolution isn't religion like christianity. If religious people have a problem with it, then they should take their kids to a religious school. Evolution doesn't disprove god, it just teaches children about science. I believe in evolution, but I still believe in god. Just not the Christian version of god.
No offense aubri, but the whole bible is a crock of crap. In the book of Lev, it's a sin to wear clothes made from two different types of material.

Well, yes and no. yes, because it fills your mind with so many questions. I know I went through that. But, eventually I came with the conclusion that God did all of this for us. No, because, it does fill your head with so many questions and it could be good at times but, some people come to the conclusion that this world started with evolution and people leave thier religous background. Which is bad, in my opinion. But, I just came to the conclusion that i strongly belive that evolution should not be taught at public schools.
No offense to the people out there who belive that evolution did start our world.

Well, you might as well teach it, since it is just basic science, based on the best evidence that is available.
It should be taught along with conspiracy theory, though, so that people reading the bible understand how conspiracies get started, the power structures that control thought in groups of people, and how to determine what a fact is. (Hint: there aren't really any in the Bible, but there is a LOT of wisdom from parables in there.)

Science is based on fact and religion is based on faith. Both have their place, but you have to remember that God allowed or encouraged evolution or it wouldn't have happened. The very earliest book of the Bible...Genesis... wasn't written till later and its not really sensible to assume that the chronology is accurate. Especially when you consider the amount of translations from then til now. It never hurts to learn as much as you can, even from those with different viewpoints.

I think it would be a disaster not to study the theory of evolution.
As you get older, I'm sure you'll want to understand it when
other people are talking about it.
Besides, how can you be against something without having
knowledge of it? Even if you disagree, it's better to have
the facts of why.
Justagrandma'a answer is quite wise.

They should teach it as a theory, not as fact, and they should also teach the theory of creation. So they have both points of view and from there it's up to the person to decide what they think based on whatever background they have.

I was briefly taught about it in science class i guess in middle school. They didn't spend alot of time on it for the fact that it is a controversial theory. In my opinion it should be taught as a theory.

I am a Christian and I dont really think there is a problem with it because they arent making you belive it they r just educating you on the subject. I dont believe it at all but I still think you should know about it. Helps out when you talk to people who belive it... you will know its a bunch of crap and explain to them why it is :)

i think that children in school should be taught a little about everything, parents on the other hand should teach their children to be open to new things and ideas. there is science and then there is religion, which one holds up in court? i do not believe in god personally but if you do then that is your business. i am not trying to offend, but science is so much more solid than religion. i know for a fact that most science can be proved but god there is no proof, just faith.
