nicely it would keep on with that the cat would land on its ft. Now in case you strapped the toast on butterside up, that would nicely be an completely different state of affairs. except that is what you meant in the first position. I vote for the cat landing on its feet. A cat is much more agile than a slice of buttered toast.

if its below floor 6 or higher than 7 (-20) then yes there is a 90 percent chance of the cat surviving. Because the reaches its terminal velocity around floor 7, before that it is very stiff, then it relaxes and spreads out, slows down, and flexes its feet for a "springy" landing.

Hi. Cats can survive falls from very high buildings if they have enough time to get into a stable foot down position. The toast, as a non-thinking entity, would be overruled.

A cat from a good height can twist it's body round so that it can land on it's feet. Cat's have been known to fall off 8 story buildings and come off unscathed or with minor injuries.
