I kno what u mean when you ask that i've often asked that of many people ... i am a competitive year-round cheerleader that has been through many hard ships and i'd say yes it's def a sport because if it takes a team to earn a title/ trophy, u get scored and you win and compete against other squads then itz just like any other sport but its actually kinda harder cuz in my opinion itz a lot more stressing and nerve wrecking if ya kno what i mean. but no matter what's come our way our team has pulled through and i'd have to say has been very very sucessful through out the years..... GOOD LUCK AND IF I SEE YA AT A COMP AND DONT KNO ITZ YOU IMMA SAYIN HI INSIDE!!!

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! This arguement always comes up and I am an athlete and i say no way b/c is it in the olympics? no then it isnt a sport and people always say well baseball and football arent in the olympics and they are sports and there is a reason why there arent and the reason isnt b/c it is for a bunch of sissies(cough cough QUEERLEADERS!) so i dont think it is a sport b/c cheerleading is when girls(particulary non athletic sissies) put on a skirt and hop around and yell about something(usually something that they have NO clue about) so i DO NOT THINK IT IS A SPORT!!! however gymnastics is

Yes, just because I believe anything that takes physical agility and skill, where you compete embosies a sport. I know people will disagree, and I DEFINITELY was NOT a cheerleader (not cause I don't like them, but it's not me) but I still know it takes skill and lots of practice to do those jumps and all the stuff you do in competitions. Cheering at games isn't the whole thing. And not everyone can do it.

Some of the things Cheerleaders do with their bodies are both crazy and impressive. They have to be super fit, athletic and flexible, they do put their bodies on the line and as well as that, it is ultra competitive. So for those three reasons, I would have to say yes, it is a sport. I would probably compare it to gymnastics.
If you don't believe me, watch that movie Bring It On, for it's cheer scenes!

absolutley!
i was on my high school varsity team and out of soccer, softball, track, and volleyball (which i have also participated in) it is one of the most difficult.
we worked out monday-saturday for 4 hours...having to weightlift, run, do ab work, land double back handsprings and backflips...
and when we were stunting we would have to hold up and throw someone into the air...
so i have to say that it is a sport, not just a way for girls to show off.

Yes. Those girls (and guys) have to work their behinds off and practice just as often as people in more "mainstream" sports.

It's not a sport... it's a sexual thing to let guys check out girls in short outfits. It's all about sex.
