I am 35 weeks pregnant and have been having a alot of sharp pain in my lower abdomen. the pains come and go irregular. The more i am up and doing the more frequently and sharper the pain. It also gets much worst in the evening. I called the doctor and see said it sounds like muscle spasms. they are ever painful. My doctor suggested taking Tylenol, but i really dont like taking medicine. Has any one else had this and how did you deal with?

It could be muscle spasms, stretching or braxton hicks. I think the best advise is to listen to your doctor. If you trust them enough to deliver your child you should trust them enough to take their advise.
Now on the other hand I do not like taking medicine either. And in fact adult medicines make me sick because I take them so infrequently that my body never got used to them and can not handle anything stronger then childrens meds.
So some other tips to try are taking a shower and while in the shower making slow (not painful) figure 8 curves with your hips. This was suggested to me by my midwife when I had pains in my first pregnancy and is a trick that sometimes helped in all my pregnancies. Also a warm water compress. Or a bath.
Try sitting with a pillow under your hip.
And remember that some of these aches and pains are just things that you body is going to go through getting ready for the baby to come.
Good luck!!!

I am also 35 weeks along, and yes I have those problems!! Remember that you're supporting a lot of weight in that tummy and your muscles are being stretched. It is worse for me at the end of the day too, which I put down to tiredness. It helps me if I sit somewhere comfy where you can put my feet up and lightly rub the places I get those sharp pains. Warm compresses or a warm shower help too. I don't get into the bathtub at this point, but if you have a nice big one that's easy to get in and out of, give it a try... remember not too hot!

Yes I had that type of pain with my first. It was a girl and a lot of women I know who had girls had this pain. Very strange but true. Anyway, it was down low and very sharpe. Some said it was my uterus stretching or maybe my muscles. I'm not sure what it was exactly but I did take some medication and I was also taking medication for hyperemesis Gravadarium. My children turned out perfect, so if you need to take something to get comfortable...go for it. The baby will be just fine. Just check with your Doc first. Good luck.

I had pains to. I was told they were from the uterus stretching. They were very sharp and it felt like the baby was taking its finger nails and clawing me, which I know wasn't happening but its how I explained it. I wouldn't worry unless you were having unusual discharge. If you don't feel comfortable taking meds when pregnant, don't do it. I didn't feel comfortable ether and besides, how much do you think Tylenol will help you in your situation any Way?

I had the same thing happen to me and went to the hospital who said I wasn't in labor. I refused to go home and 2 hours later had my son.
Sometimes if the baby isn't turned face down like normal, you don't feel the contractions in your stomach. I only felt the pain when I'd stand up.
Try bed rest

Find a preganancy girdle. You are probably having braxton hix (?) false labor. Take it easy and don't be on your feet too much. Watch your intake of salt and drink plenty of fluids. Watch for swelling and if it gets too bad go back to the doctor. If the doctor puts you off, find another one and get a second opinion. Never hurts...

if your doctor suggest taking some tylenol, then i would do what the doctor says. even if you don't like taking meds, then at least it would probably ease the pain...

tylenol is your best bet it will not hurt your baby. if you dont do something for the pain you could cause your baby to be distressed. you may not like to take medicine but if it will help your baby then it is worth it. that is how i stoped my discomfort.
