Sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions to me. Where I live we actually visit the doctor once a week from 35 weeks onwards. If I were you I would go in for a checkup anyways.
As for the black colace, I wouldn't take anything to encourage labour - you are technically still early. What's the rush, it's better for the baby to be inside your womb for as long as possible. Good luck and congrats.

It's ok. You're just having "practice," or braxton-hicks, contractions. I got them a lot when I was 35 weeks.
I do think you should be getting dr. appointments more frequently than once a month at this point. Call your dr.'s office and tell them you're concerned and would feel better if you got an check-up. They should be able to fit you in and not just blow you off.
As far as work goes, well, today's big corporations don't have diddly-squat for maternity leave anymore! However, that doesn't mean you should risk your health. If you can afford to, take a couple days of vacation or sick time, even if it has to be without pay. Maybe even just one extra day to extend your weekend so that you can take care of you.
I told my doctor how stressed out I was getting at work when I was pregnant, and he noticed that my BP was a little elevated, so he put me on bed rest for a week. I really needed it, even if it did cut into my paid maternity leave.
Good luck and congrats!

Yes you are having classic braxtons, but even these help by ripening your uterus for labor. if you want to help yourself, walk, walk, walk...., if you are worried about labor go to your hospital and do your laps there they usually don't mind and hey if labor begins you are already there. yes it will make the contractions increase which is good if that is what you are going for 39 weeks is fine to have your baby at. If you tire of walking and go home, it was good exercise and you can walk again tomorrow the walking will also make labor easier weather you know it or not. I've had three and walked many miles around the hospitals, used the cohashes and walking is the best thing.

YOu are probably having braxton hicks contractions. Try taking a warm bath and drinking lots of water. If they keep getting stronger and are less than 5 minutes apart for an hour then you should go to the hospital to get checked. Also if nothing major has happened by your next appt then you should ask your doctor to check you.

Braxton-Hicks contractions. They're "false labor." But it does mean the day is getting near. That happened to me a lot in the two weeks before I went into real labor, which was entirely in my back when it started. Totally different.

Sounds like you are over-due for a doctor's visit! Shouldn't you be going every week by now? Yes, those should be contractions you are feeling. I never knew that until I was hooked for non-stress tests after my babies were late.
My doctor suggested drinking castor oil (2 oz) mixed with orange juice (6 oz) and baking soda (1 tsp) for fizz. Castor oil tastes like lip gloss (nasty), but definitely got things going for me with my 1st kid. My doctor said it will increase the odds of going into labor by 25%. Keep in mind that you will spend a lot of time in the bathroom since it empties your system out. Good luck!

Forget the herbs and caster oil. Unless you are familiar with herbs and how they work, you can do harm to yourself and your baby. The caster oil...it will give you a massive stomach ache and the runs. I've seen very few people that it actually pushed over into labor. Have sex! There are hormones in semen that will help soften the cervix, making it more receptive to dilitation from the contractions.

It sounds like braxton hicks. Just time yourself and call your doctor the first chance you get. If you are unsure and worried, go to the ER. They are understanding and will not have any problems with taking care of you.
