You should know that all methods of hormonal birth control (including the Pill, the "mini-pill," the "patch," Depo-Provera, Implanon, emergency contraception, etc.) work in three ways:
1. By attempting to prevent ovulation (the release of an egg)
2. By thickening cervical mucus, which may prevent sperm from reaching the egg
3. By changing the lining of the womb to prevent a newly conceived human being from implanting in the womb, causing his or her death.
The IUD also works by preventing the newly conceived child from implanting in the womb.
Some claim that hormonal birth control only "prevents pregnancy," but this is only because there has been a move to change the definition of the beginning of pregnancy from fertilization to implantation. This is scientifically dishonest. Even medical textbooks recognize that life begins at fertilization:

By the time implantation occurs, the child is already 5-9 days old.
For more information on this topic and information on the risks of various types of birth control, see:

There are other options available that never cause abortions, such as condoms, spermicide, cervical caps, diaphragms, and Natural Family Planning.

I suggest u look into the NuvaRing...It is safer then most contraceptives and very effective in preventing pregnancy,I used it before planning my pregnancy and my doctor also used it for a couple years..It has the lowest hormone level then the pill and shot..It has very little if any side effects..It is very easy to use and very enexpensive..Its a thin rubbery like ring that u place inside as close to your cervix as possible (u do this yourself, very easy) then it stays in place on its own without u even feeling it..U keep it in there for 3 weeks straight and then take it out for 1 week (which is when your menstrual cycle will be due)..U can have sex with it in and not feel it,and your man wont be able to feel it either,,if u choose u can even take it out for up to 3 hours while having sex and be protected against pregnancy but u must remember to place it back in after that 3 hours is up. Voila! So easy,I loved it..After I have this baby im going to get back on it,I never remember pills either and the shot made me gain likee 15 lbs in 2 weeks...U can check it out and even print out a free vouchure at www.nuvaringcom. =)

There are several out there. Depo Provera is a shot and something called the nuva ring. There is also a patch such as the ortho evra patch. The Depo shot is a three month shot so you do not have to remember to take anything. Sometimes the side effects can vary but can be minimum and not bad. Of course there are IUD's and more forms out there and most of them are very good at doing their job.

IUD's are a great option for those who have had children already. They are inserted through the cervix to your uterus, so a prior delivery makes it easier to insert. Many Dr.'s will not put them in unless you have had a child and are in a monogomous relationship.

Don't have sex........that's a good option for someone who isn't married. Or you could go to a gynecologist and ask him/her what the best option is for you.
