Our plant has an atmosphere (as do several othe rplanetary bodies) because it is geologically active. The geological features of our inner core, our mantle and the Earth's crust layer prodcue a healthy magnetic field which shields our planet from most of the suns' radiation (heat) and the solar wind, which is occasionally rather fileld with highly charged and energetic (fast moving) ions. Anyway - our magnetic field shields the atmosphere from the worst effects of the suns' radiation. Now then - many other planets do have atmospheres - the easiest to recognize is probably Venus which is, in fact, a much denser atmosphere than our own - and used to be pointed out as the end-result of greenhouse gas warming, though not so much anymore.

Most of the other planets have atmospheres. Venus has way too much atmosphere (about 90 times that of Earth's), and Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are virtually nothing but atmosphere. Mars has an extremely thin atmosphere, about 1% of Earths. Even Pluto (while officially not a planet now, I am still a creature of habit) has a very thin atmosphere. Mercury is the only planet that has no atmosphere, for 2 reasons: #1 its mass is so small that it does not have enough gravity to retain gasses, and #2 it is so close to the sun, solar radiation and pressure from the solar wind strip away any lighter elements that may be out gassed by the planet. Several moons also have atmospheres, most notably Saturn's moon Titan, Jupiter's moon Io and Neptune's moon Triton. The Earth is the only planet we know of that has an atmosphere that can support life. This is because of a combination of being the right distance from the sun and the chemistry of the original makeup of the Earth.

Almost all other planets DO. Mercury doesn't, as far as we can tell, and since Pluto is getting kicked off the team, that's it. The gas giants are almost all atmosphere. Maybe you meant breathable atmosphere, in which you're totally right and we have no answer for why, although when the earth was very young the atmosphere would have killed us.

All the other planets but Mercury and (I say its a planet) Pluto has an atmosphere. The ones that do not have an atmosphere have gravity too low to keep it on the planet.

Other planets definately have atmospheres. Take Venus for instance: it couldn't have it's freakishly severe acid rain without an atmosphere. Planets can't have weather at all without an atmosphere.

The moon doesn't have an atmosphere...but the moon is a satellite, not a planet.

Almost all other planets do have an atmosphere. The problem is that the atmosphere on other planets would be deadly to us.

Most planets (in fact almost all) have an atmosphere. They're just a different make-up to Earth's. Uranus' 4 example is 83% hydrogen, 15% helium, 2% methane, Earth's is: 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% argon.

This **** is really easy to find out if u just look.

Who told you no other planets had an atmosphere? cause they are wrong. Most planets have an atmosphere of some type.

Other planets DO, in fact, have atmosphere...

the difference is in the composition of that atmosphere and its ability to support life.

Lots of planets have atmospheres, only all the other ones are poisonous to life as we know it.
