Absolutely, to the degree that we are able to be without counting the unavoidable accident, injury or illness. We have a large measure of control over our own fate. But we can't control other people and events. So the best we can do is exert what control we have to make our lives the way we want them to be. To reduce the effect of those things we can't control, we can take steps not to put ourselves at risk by getting into situations that are potentially dangerous and by taking care of our health, etc.

Yes and no, maybe. We are born to whom we are born to, and with what traits and characteristics that are given to us, but.....there is suggestion by many, that we choose our challenges and conditions in this life from our previous life. Who knows if we will ever determine the unrefutable answer to that one! Our fate is very often dependent on our choices and judgements. One choice is good, another is chaos. Experience gives you greater wisdom through time, hopefully. Accidents and illnesses, birth defects, levels of intelligence, plain luck....who knows! The field is so vast, you'd have to consult an oracle for the answer! I'm sure we all have our own interpretations, but the actual truth to the whole affair, I'd say is an unknown. Though a lot of evidence points to the fact, that we have a large say in the whole chain of events possible. We can be our own worst enemies or our own best friend. It's very widely variable. I don't think there is a pat answer!

I believe we are. Everyone has a different opinion on this.
I think we are because every choice you make during the day, all of the billions and trillions of decisions you make, affects the next event in your life. If I choose to speed on my way to school, I might get stopped by a police officer. If I get stopped, it is because I sped. If I had chosen to obey the limit, I would not have gotten stopped for speeding.
Many people believe that destiny controls our lives. They basically are saying that no matter what you do, events in your life will occur, without fail. The reason I don't believe this is just because I think that events occur as a result of other events/decisions.
For example, if I choose to wear a blue shirt today, and everyone wearing red shirts is chosen to participate in a school activity, I will not have to participate. If I had chosen to wear a red shirt, I would have to participate. See?

yes we are in control of our fate 2 a certain extent....God has his hand over our lives...but he gives us a choice....a choice 2 live or a choice to die....a choice to go to heaven and hell....he is the author and finishers of our faith but when you don't have faith you do things your own way and not the way God intended so you walked out the will of God and you chose to go down a different path....so yea God wrote whats gonna happen before it actually happens but we do have a choice....but if you don't understand anything i just wrote then u most likely won't until you are in a spiritual aspect.....and with God you are not gonna understand anything from a natural standpoint....so....but i hoped this helped you out.....but all i can say is search the bible for yourself and open your heart to recieve his word....

In addition to scientific considerations, common sense insists that Free Will exists. Who would deny that we have Free Will when we put one foot in front of the other and decide, of our own volition, of our own Free Will, to go for a walk or not go for a walk? It is clearly irrational to believe that a chain of causality (pre-determination) at the time of the Big Bang determines if we go for a walk this afternoon, or not.

I highly recommend the book The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain. It has the answer to this questions and others of this sort.

No, everybody else always has a hand to play. There is no telling who is going to intervene and cause your life to spin out of control!

We know what's right and what's wrong (assuming you were nutured instead of natured)...natural law is undeniable. we are in control of what we do though, but it depends on how you look at it. We have the freedom to choose between right and wrong...we know the consequences too. karma is a (you know what).
