Realize that nobody is perfect and people can give constructive criticism to help you, not hurt you or point out your weaknesses. Learn to be a little more open minded and realize that personal reflection is healthy. Self-improvement is actually one of the ways we grow. Realize that if you can't take criticism very well, you will never grow and will remain stagnant in your life. Don't take it personally - use constructive criticism as a tool for growth and development.

The customary procedure is to paraphrase the criticism back to the person. For instance, if he says, "Your work is sloppy," you say, "I hear you saying that my work is sloppy."
If the person is somebody you want to please, like a boss or teacher, you can say, "How would you like me to do it?" Then when the person shows or tells you, and you understand what is wanted, you say, "Thanks for letting me know." You say this even if the person was rude or overreacted, if you want to make a good impression. It is all right if you are more polite than the other person sometimes.
