The regularity of your periods should have nothing to do with sex, that depends on your general health, hormonal levels, and possibly exposure to certain environmental conditions (amount of light, temperature, chemicals, etc.). For avoiding pregnancy, the only actually safe thing to do is be abstinant until you're married, then use a mixture of timing, condoms, and/or other methods of birth control. To time it, you need to have regular cycles, and count the number of days from first day of one period to the first day of the next. Approximately between these two is the time of ovulation when pregnancy can occur. Ovulation can vary a few days before or after the midpoint between cycles, and sperm can survive in a woman's body for I think a day or two, so you'd need to plan almost a week on either side of the midpoint between two cycles to not have unprotected sex. (do not have unprotected sex if you're not married! actually, just don't have sex if you're not married!). Because of these factors, this method is very restricted and unreliable; I would say at least a week on either side of midpoint in cycle to use a barrier method, though there is still no guarantee against pregnancy if barriers are used all the time, and the risk is higher even when timing calculations are done as well as they possibly can be.

It probably is normal to have irregular periods after you lose your virginity. It sounds to me like you're pretty young. I would suggest going to a planned parenthood for birth control and talk to them about your periods. Sounds embarrassing, but they get paid to do it! If you are going to have sex without birth control, be aware of the consequences. The best time with little risk of pregnancy is actually DURING your period. The worst time (most possible to get pregnant) is 12-14 days after the first day of your period.

But seriously, I would suggest getting on birth control. The depo shot is great and you only get it once every 3 months, AND for some people (like me) your period completely vanishes while on the shot.

If the only time you are irregular is after sex, then I would suggest having a pregnancy test. You need to get in touch with a family planning clinic.

No. Your periods will still be regular after sex, unless you're pregnant.

Never a safe time really without birth control.

use a god damn condom and get on birth control!

there is no "good" time to have sex that will reduce the risk. well there is but its not worth the risk. wrap it!
