In Division 1 football(NCAA), how many players actually get to play in a game?

You see plenty of players run on to the field but, how many actually get in the game?

It depends. Most coaches substitute based on talent, depth, and need for rest/overcoming injuries. I'd place the number (offense, defense, and special teams combined) at about 50.

I would guess that on average about 45 players.
