I read an article on MSN.com, President Bush was being interviewed when he made the following comments.
“I’m not going to try to be popular and change principles to do so,” Bush said when asked about his standing with the public.
In the interview, Bush rejected an assertion that, time and again, his administration hasn’t been straight with the American people about Iraq. He said his spirits were strong.
“I really am not the kind of guy that sits here and says, ’Oh gosh, I’m worried about my legacy,”’ Bush said.
Doesn't this sound a little callous? And reinforce the fact that President Bush is on his own agenda and doesn't give two cents about anyone else but his own interests?

Yes, it's extremely disturbing. The president is supposed to be elected by the people and work for the people. He has numerously repeated that he doesn't care about opinion polls, and if what he's doing is "popular" or not. But... that's how we tell him that we don't think what he's doing is right. To which he say's your above statement. I don't see how that's any different that what Saddam Hussein did when he was in power. We do not have a president. We have a dictator. Who doesn't care if people think he's wrong, he's going to forge ahead on his own principles. He needs to be removed from power. Now.

No, I saw the interview and did not find it disturbing. President Bush has been a brave leader who serves us with dignity. Could it possibly occur to liberals that he is more worried about the world that his children and future grandchildren will live in?
Callous? No.

Some Americans perceive that Bush is not interested for the protection of the people regarding the war in Iraq but to get what is good for their family business which is oil.

Yep...sounds reasonable for someone that belongs to the Skulls and Bones. Along with the Bilderberg group.....they are all on the same agenda. The New World Order. Might as well get ready for it.....it's coming whether we like it or not.

No, i think he just feels that he doesn't have to conform to the polls.
I personally would feel disillusioned if he started reacting to the polls.
He has a good grasp on reality, and is surrounded by good advisers.
It's too bad that the liberal Dems aren't smart enough to learn how to communicate with him.
After all of the bashing, and name calling the Dems have laid on this guy, I really can't blame him for not listening to them.

No not at all he is focusing on bigger things and not himself if he is on his own agenda that's fine after all he is the decider... let him get what ever is coming to him when the chips fall were they may...
After all when it is all said and done and this all slaps him in the face "that's on him just like he said" sounds to me like he is willing to except the consequences for his failures "we could use a few more politicians in D.C. like that"...

He is worried about his legacy. He is the son of a man who was both vice-president and president. He is a History major. He told Karl Rove that history would be kind - he may be a compulsive gambler (I am not being disrespectful - just deeply concerned).
