This is pure sales talk, cut amethysts of equal quality have equal value no matter where they come from. The only reason amethyst as a mineral specimen may have a slightly higher value is if it was found in a very unusual locality or has a very particular crystal development and even then the difference will be slight.
Amethyst is a very common gemstone and is found all round the world so just buy the best quality for the best price you can find and forget its country of origin. The only thing to watch for is that many amethysts today are made in a lab and many others are radiation treated (100% safe to wear) to improve their colour so get a receipt stating that your stone is guaranteed natural and untreated. Shop keepers are going to hate me for this!!

it is supposedly the geothermal heat and minerals in that part of the world that gives amethysts a factorial and deeper color..beware of amethysts from different parts of the world being sold as these amethyst......get a gem and rock book before buying....arm yourself with knowledge
