Can you edit the registry, change options in the bios menu, anything to set it so it can't be disabled by another mouse. If it helps, I have a kensington wireless mouse three button. If you have an answer to this at all it will be helpful.

The Synaptics Touchpad program shouldn't be disabled by anything that's working normally (or behaving, I should say). You could try sticking a copy of the program in your Startup folder to see if maybe the USB driver is turning it off? If you turn it back on, it might stay on.

Start\Control Panel\ System.
Click on the "Hardware" tab, then "Device Manager"

Right click the desired device and disable.

To use it again just enable it following the same steps.
