Homecoming for my school is tomorrow, and the first day is Medieval Mondayl. Well i have no idea what to wear, so does anyone know how i can make something really quick to wear tomorrow? I just need something simple and quick to make or whatever. Any suggestions would help.

Are you a boy or girl?

If you are a boy, simple generic "medieval" clothes would be a tunic that falls to about mid-thigh or just above the knee over close-fitting pants. If you want you can borrow (or find a second-hand store) a pair of leggings that will look at lot like the "hose" men wore through much of the middle ages. Otherwise, wear plain solid coloured pants like Dockers. Black or tan are good colours. Don't wear jeans.

The tunic should be either a solid a colour or a simple repeating geometric (like diamonds). An easy cheat is to find the top from a set of surgical scrubs that is too big for you. Wear it over a long sleeved white or cream coloured shirt. Wear a belt over top the tunic and hang a small pouch and fake dagger from the belt.

Alternatively you could wear a vest made of velvet or some kind of brocade over a poofy-sleeved white shirt. Still wear your belt on top of the shirt. Again, second-hand shops are good for this. Poet shirts were popular in the 80s and you can probably find some there.

If you are girl, find a long skirt and wear it with a poet shirt, or one of the tops that were popular a couple years ago with the dangling sleeves. Wear a pretty vest in a velvet or a brocaded in a rich, jewel-toned colour over the blouse. Wear wreath of flowers on your hear, or a circlet of twisted wire, or a simple cap or bonnet.

--- OR ---

Find your local chapter of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). They probably have a website. You can search for your local group at www.sca.org. Also some groups list themselves in the phone book under the name "Lionheart, Richard T." (but not all do). Anyway, get a hold of someone from the SCA. Ask to get in touch with the Chatelaine (or Castallan). Explain you'd like to borrow something from their "Gold Key" (that's loaner costumes most groups keep on hand). They should be able to help you.

Good luck!

Oh I'm so jealous! We never got to have a medieval day.I would have borrowed a theatre costume personally but since you have little time...go to Burger King and get one of those crowns! If they still have them...

Well if you are a boy then you can try wearing tunics, brigandines, gambersons, jerkins, vests, kilts, capes or robes. If you are female then you can try wearing out long gowns, corsets, women capes and robes, bodices and vests.

a suit of armor out of cardboard (minus the "sword" if your school has a strict anti-weapons policy). sounds like fun!
