A turbo is just the turbo unit(the compressor turbine) A turbo kit is everything you need to make the turbo fit into your car. Exsh MAnifold to connect to the engine tube and intercooler to run from the turbo to the Int. Manifold and oil line and stuff. Oh if you have turbo right now and you just want replace or up-grade then you only need a turbo

A Turbo is a Turbocharger.
The turbo kit is everything you need with the Turbocharger so that your engine wont blow up. It usually includes the turbocharger, Cold air intake, air filter, a better radiater and more.
The turbo alone costs around $500 for a weak turbo. The kit costs $3000+.

A turbo is just the tubo that pumps the air in.
A turbo kit includes all of the parts you need to install it.
Buy the turbo kit, they are generally cheaper than buying the stuff piece by piece.

I'm not sure I understand the question - are you asking if you "need" to install a turbo on a non-turbo vehicle? If that's the case - no.
Turbo kit term refers to an addition to an existing non-turbo engine which generally is a bad idea.

The kit comes with the gaskets, bolts and acessories that you'll need to install I a turbo. I'd suggest seeing a list, but on something like a turbo I'd always get the kit. Buying all the little stuff separately is costly and slow.

That is totally depends on what type and size turbo you buy.A turbo charger runs off the exhaust to spin a turbine that spins another turbine that is mounted in your intake to force more air into engine. A supercharger does the same thing but is belt driven. The turbocharger I had on my Buick increased hp. by about 50 . That number can usually be increased or decreased depending on how your waste gate is set.
