The rockets are 16-11 with yao and 9-2 without
so a LOT better
yao is just not a winner
never has been never will be
The rockets have a much better presence with Mutombo in the middle who is doing something ming never did, DOMINATE the boards
also McGrady is able to do what he wants for the team which helps a lot since as much as the rockets would like to force yao into being the #1 guy he's not a top guy in this league if you want to win

How much better?
They're not.
Statistics can be misleading (even win ratios). I'm not sure how you can take a guy out of a team who was averaging 25 pts/10 rebounds/2+ blocks a game, and then say - "they're better".
McGrady has stepped up, to be sure.
Dikembe has been great.
They have had role-players step up as well.
But to get through that last hurdle - the playoffs - they will need a fit, dominant big guy. And against the Western Superpowers, Mutombo isn't "it".
Yao is.
If he can return to where he left off before the playoffs, then Houston will threaten.
If he can do that, then his injury - having 'forced' others to step up their game - could end up being great for Houston.

OMG some ppl are just sooo stupi.d....
Yao is amazing...idk if any of yall have seen him play but tht foo can play...
its not tht the team is better with out him...but more ppl are steppin up and fillin his role...Howard, Battie, Hayes, Head, Mutumbo, and Lucas....have all picked up thier game SIGNIFICANTLY and it dont hurt to have t-mac back frm his injury's....
with Yao back and those plays playin the way they are now the rockets will be unstopable...

They didn't get better all of a sudden. They got McGrady back from injury, and they have some veterans and role players who are hot right now. I think this will make them a better team for the playoffs when Yao's back. Now he'll be rested for the end of the season as well.

Who ever said Yao is just media hype is an A.s.s H.o.l.e.
THe guy is ave 27 points and above 52 percent 2.3 blocks and 10 reb.
THe only reason that rockets are getting better is that T-mac is back and
all the other player is shooting better!

THEEEEEEE veteren juan howard had gotten better without yao and also the team. this shows that they dont need yao; i think they should trade yao for better and healthier players.

THEY ARE PLAYING BETTER BECAUSE THE GUYS KNOW THEY ALL HAVE TO PITCH IN. WITHOUT YAO THEY WILL NOT LAST IN THE PLAYOFFS.
