I buy the laundry detergent "Melapower" from a friend of mine and it's better than anything I've bought in the store (really). It's at least twice as concentrated (over twice as many loads per bottle) and of course more importantly it gets things CLEAN! My understanding is that it doesn't contain the toxic chemicals most detergents do, but i don't know the details on that.
Anyway, my friend isn't rich from it but he makes extra money which helps him and he enjoys doing it. He's very outgoing and being entrepreneurial comes naturally to him. So I'd say having your own business isn't for 90% of the people out there, but a legit business like Melaleuca is a good way to find out how entrepreneurial you are without taking a big risk. Stay clear away from those companies that make 'get rich quick' promises though.

Hmm...Wayne has totally manufactured those numbers, saying that 99.9% of MLMrs fail. People like that tick me off because they make it that much more difficult for those of us who are involved in an upstanding business to promote what we do. We don't come to his work and bad mouth what he does.
Anyway.
I was involved with Melaleuca at one time and had to resign because I just couldn't find people to join my organization. Their compensation plan makes it nearly impossible to earn a decent living at it. I was not new to the business, so it didn't take long to realize how many people I would have had to bring into the business in order to earn a decent income.
The problem with companies that market whole home products is that the baby boomers are fast becoming empty-nesters and no longer have the need to fill their homes with products that they buy from their own "store" in order to save on the monthly bills. Melaleuca experienced hyper-growth many years ago and that is when the huge incomes were earned. Back when people were needing to save on their household products because they were using large amounts with their families, you could really make a lot of money. Now, that ship has sailed. Melaleuca has not done anything with their compensation plan in a very long time and the product is no longer something people get too excited about.
I found it very difficult to sell because there were many products I just didn't like. For example, their bars of soap. I had a tough time with the fragrance, couldn't stand the smell to be honest, so how could I sell that to other people. I really liked their salves but found their cleaning products, although they smelled very nice, didn't really do the job. I just couldn't market something I didn't believe in.
Sorry to be so discouraging, but it was my experience.
I chose to go with the flow and moved on to a product that I totally believe in because I have experienced the results first hand, which makes it easy for me to sell to others. I found the baby boomers were now looking for health and anti-aging and that is where the market is now. They are very interested in my product, in fact I just picked up a magazine today that showed 3 actresses who rely on this product for their skin and overall health. The advertising through word of mouth has been phenomenal. They also have a cutting edge compensation plan that pays more than I have ever earned before in a home business.

You will have to have a ton of leads, be a good talker, and talk on the phone a lot to sell people the "business" and enroll them in an autoship program. The only way to make money in this program is by getting a big downline. So will you make money? Depends on how many people you can enroll, and it's not easy.

If you are a sales person you can turn a profit with Melaleuca's products. I liked the clothes liquid. You can not sell on E-bay, they will have you booted.

1) Melaleuca is MLM (Multi-Level Marketing)
2) 99.9% of the people who join an MLM (any MLM) lose money.
So.....my guess is: No, you won't make any extra money.
