I put a 2 piece sofa set up for sale and in an hour I already had people asking if it was still available and if they could come and see it. I wanted to know how much a sofa like this one is actually worth. I bought it four years ago from someone who said it was owned by their grandpa at around the 1940's but i am not 100% sure. even if it is not an antique an you please tell me what price I should sell if for because i do not want to sell it for my list price after seeing the amount of people wanting to buy it. Below is a link that i was selling the sofa on and it has the pictures of the two pieces.

Yes, this furniture is definitely an antique that you could obtain more money for. Most new furniture doesn't retain much resale value, but when you get pieces that are over 50 years old and other such retro items, you are talking good money. Fidning these pieces in good condition, such as yours, is hard to do and that significantly increases the value. Not only that, but the wood and construction quality in your pieces looks very good. I would definitely make sure that you are not being taken advantage of when you get rid of this furniture! Good luck!

The wood is beautifully carved and detailed from what I can see from the pictures...

Was it re upholstered though? If that is the original upholstery I agree that it is no later than the 40's and you really can't get anything for something like that unless it has the mark (usually burned into the wood on the underside of the piece somewhere?) of the maker that made it and or the place the piece originated.

I have a chair that looks like it is nothing special... But under the cushion is burned a special little name that makes it worth hundreds... Keindel...

Check and see... Some are more valuable than others even when they don't look like much. When you find the name then look that up and it will be easier to tell.

Retro furniture is in... But usually the special weird or odd colorful modernist pieces like something in chrome and fabric in bright orange, from someone like Florence Knoll...

Old "brown furniture" (meaning the wood) is not all that desirable... not yet anyway. Americana is not really included in the whole retro thing unless it's special. Otherwise you can get most of it in any thrift store.

I am not an expert, but, it looks as if its from the 1950s. Take the photos to a furniture dealer, they can probably give you better information.
