I agree that there are very few similarities between the Yankees & the New England Patriots.
And yes, I'd agree that Belichick & Brady are two of the main reasons for their success... but add Robert Kraft to that mix too. A miserly spender, Kraft has pretty much taken a "no-one is indespensible" line with the team, and with success.

Slightly incorrect on the salary room Jordan... the NE Patriots will fall in excess of 16 million dollars under the salary cap. Only Philadelphia has spent less on their team this season.
So plenty of money to go around... Kraft's just a lil' tight with it. And if they can garner this type of success on a small budget, why not?

Still, back to topic - I don't think you could choose two teams further apart in outlook, expectations or design than the Yankees & the Patriots.

The Yankees can be a dynasty, meaning a nostalgic look at an expensive team that was. The Patriots have a winning, game by game approach. If you asked Bill Bellichik about a dynasty, he would probably tell you that dynasty was a soap opera in the 80s. Some of us Patriot fans have been known to act a little like Yankee fans, that expectation that your team is going to be there at the end because they deserve it. The Patriots themselves would never allow themselves to feel that way.

Seems to me that the primary objective in any professional sport is to win. If that is the criteria for being like the Yankees, I'll bet that not only the Patriots are trying to be like the Yankees, but any other team with its priorities straight would want to be like the Yankees, as well.

You must be kidding! How many players are the Patriots sending to the Pro Bowl? Only one. The Yankees spend to get the "homerun." The Patriots spend on players that have chemistry. How come the Patriots couldn't keep David Givens or Adam Vinatieri. They didn't have the salary room and they weren't willing to take a pay cut to play on a winning team. That's not chemistry. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick make the Patriots, not the money they spend.

I would think any professional team would try and be like the Yankees. The Yankees have the most championships of all.
