w-15+9w
combine like terms or terms that have the same variable.
w and 9w have the same variable.
1w + 9w = 10w
10w - 15 <--thats your answer

if you like to factor it out:
5 is the GCF
5(2w-3) <--that could be your answer as well

Well, most everybody here has the right idea, but I think your question leaves something out. Is the question: w - 15 + 9w = 0 or is the question just to simplify the expression w - 15 + 9w?

If it is the latter, the answer, then, is: 10w - 15.
If the former is the correct question, then the correct answer is as follows:

w - 15 + 9w = 0
10w - 15 = 0 (add +15 to both sides of the equals sign)
+ 15 = + 15
---------------------
10w = 15 (now, divide both sides of the equation by 10)
------ ----
10 10

w = 1.5

To check your answer, plug in 1.5 for w.

1.5 - 15 + 9(1.5) = 0
1.5 - 15 + 13.5 = 0

Combine like terms.

w + 9 w = 10 w

Therefore the answer is 10w - 15

10w - 15

You just add the w to the 9w. That's all.

w-15=9w
subtract w from both sides
-15=8w
divde both sides by 8
w=-1.875 (or negative 1-7/8)
