I mean some people tell me that they mean the same thing and than other people tell me they don't

I always thought the meaning of corny to be cliched, overworked (done to death, like many movie scenes).

I think of cheesy to mean cheap and tasteless.

Corny jokes - only the one telling the jokes thinks it is funny and those listening to it would just roll their eyes and fake a haha.

Cheesy jokes - same as above except that instead of rolling their eyes those listening to it would reel back in disgust!

corny is a lame attempt at humour. cheesy is that same lame attempt used to impress a girl.

Corny is more in the "vegetable" category.

Cheesy is certainly a "dairy" product.
