When my son had the croup, the doctor told me to either turn on the hot shower and let him take some deep breaths of the hot steam, or take him outside into the cold air (just make sure to bundler her up if you take her out). They told me that this would help to open up his airways. If she has a real problem breathing or starts gasping for air, turning blue around her lips...take her to the emergency room right away. They can give her steriods to help that will work really fasy. It is a scary thing to have a kid with croup, but she will get better. Good Luck and hope she feels better soon.

Put on the shower full blast and turn your bathroom into a sauna. When it's good and steamy, let your daughter hang out in there for a while.

If that doesn't cut it, bundle up and go outside in the chilly air. That usually works.

If you hear any wheezing or she's having ANY problems breathing, go to the ER.

Steam bath and also taking them outside at night to breath cool air. These seem to contradict eachother but the website my Pediatrician recommends says this.

steam up the bathroom by turning on the shower totally hot for a few minutes and bring her in the bathroom, but not in the hot shower of course, just in the bathroom. you can also use a humidifier in her room if you have one.
