I say iPod nano, here's some information about the Microsoft Zune.
The Upsides
# It has a 3 inch screen with a resolution of 320x240 which is a bit bigger than an iPod's
# It has an F.M radio.
# It has WiFi. (Don't get too excited yet.)
The Downsides
# It's not compatibale with Microsoft's new operating system 'Vista'.
# It's not compatible with a Mac
# When you first buy a Microsoft Zune, straight away some of that money, some of your money goes to the music record company 'Universal Music'. Why? Because stupid Microsoft signed a stupid contract with stupid Universal that goes to the effect of, "Because you own a digital music player you obviously get your music illegally, so you must pay us a fee to cover our losses even though you haven't even taken the Zune out of the box."
# Any music that you have previously purchased online legally, whether it be from napster, iTunes, or any other online music store will not work. Oh yeah, even the music that you have bought from Microsoft's own store won't work...
# The Wifi can't be used to sync wirelessly with a computer and can't be used to buy songs wirelessly in a WiFi hotspot, it can only be used to transfer songs from one Zune to another...but the song is automatically embedded with copy protection, and it deletes itself after 3 plays or 3 days, whatever comes first.
# You can buy your music from the new 'Zune Marketplace', but before you can buy a song you first need to sign up, then you need a .Net passport, then you need to create a 'Zune Tag' and then you can finally register you credit card details...But wait! You cannot buy songs with real money, you have to use 'Zune Points'. Unlike the iTunes store where you can buy a song for US$1.00 with a single click, you have to buy a song with 79 'Zune Points'...which is US$1.00 anyway. Oh yeah and you can't just exchange a dollar for 79 'Zune Points' you have to do it in blocks of US$5.00.

Do you mean which one will last longer on a single charge? I'd have to say the Nano. The battery life on the Nano is supposed to be much higher than on the iPod Video because there aren't any moving hard-drive parts to chew through the juice. But you're comparing apples to oranges with the Nano and the Zune. The Zune is designed to compete directly with the iPod Video and has no Nano-counterpart.
You'd be better off trying to decide whether the Nano or iPod Video are better suited to your needs, and if you decide that the iPod Video works best for you, _then_ decide if the Zune is better than what iPod offers.

for your more info question i say for sure;
the zune.
with the zune you don't get any finger print marks on the actually zune [not talking about the screen]
and i have heard from others on the zunescene forum that their zunes are very durable..
i've heard of someone's zune falling off the top of their car roof and being fine..
iPod i would be so worried if that happened..
i have owned an iPod btw..
plus i feel as tho the nano brand of iPod would break too easily;
i would be afraid to break it..
i had a mini before i got my zune.
also an added thing is that the zune does not have a scroll wheel like iPods have..
they have a D-pad.
meaning up is up, left is left, right is right, down is down..
no scrolling whatsoever

Well it depends what you want out of a music player.
There are perks to the ipod and to the zune.
Ipod has a fancy well known name, it's nicely organizes your music, has a nice cool style that sells many accessories that go with only an ipod.
Zune is less popular and sells less acecssories but it plays videos and games and movies. It's also known that if an ipod battery dies, you have to replace the whole ipod but if a zune battery dies, you can just buy a new battery which is a lot less expensive. And with a zune, you can add on more memory unlike an ipod, so when you run out of room, you can just buy more. Also, zune has a longer warranty. I myself have an ipod video but my dad who works with electronics was trying to convince me to get a zune instead and told me all these things, but i chose the ipod because of the well known name and the popularity. It all depends what you like better.
Hope this helps :)

I don't know about the ipod nano, but I know that the Zune because it's very durable. It's scratch-resistant, and really durable. I trust it. I heard ipod get scratched easy, and can be really breakable. The Zune a bit thick, but usually thick means it can't snap and bend. But the Zune is awesome, and I think you should get it.

first of all it depends on how much memory you want. ipods are good for smaller amounts of memory. but i have a zune and i love it. i havent had any problems since i have got it. the zune is easier to navigate for beginners because it has simple buttons. the ipods have the click wheel which is hard to use at first because its pretty sensative. and i also like my zune because i dont want to be the same as everybody else. ipods are really popular and i dont like to have the same thing as everyone else

Microsoft just wants to be better then a mac, Bill Gates copied the mac... all the way!!! I have never seen a Zune or heard of one and I am a geak with electronics, does that tell you something?? Yes it tells you if you havn't heard of it, it is not special. I have heard of iPods the second week it came out because everyone loved them. Who in the right mind would want a Zune when there are iPods??? I don;t get it. So get an iPod nano. I have an iPod Mini (4 GB) and it rocks. So get an iPod you won;t be sorry.

The Zune is a joke, stay away from it.
It's WiFi transfer "feature" is limited to 3 plays or 3 days, whichever comes first and its DRM violates the Creative Commons license. The WiFi "feature" can't be used for anything else, such as wireless syncing.
It can't be used as a hard drive mass storage device, as can be done with every other player out there.
It has a bigger screen than does an iPod, however, it has the same resolution, making it look worse.
You have to buy prepaid "points" in order to buy songs from the Zune store. The Zune store does not yet have video.
It doesn't play Microsoft's own PlaysForSure files, so music purchased from Yahoo Music or any other music store won't work. The Zune Player (which you must use) only plays its own proprietary format and mp3's. Microsoft is using misleading advertising regarding iTunes conversion. They make it sound like the Zune Player will convert existing iTunes to its own format automatically...it won't. You have to burn your iTunes music to a CD, then rip that music back to your hard drive again in either Zune's format, WMA format or in the mp3 format. If you do that, however, the sound quality of your music will degrade because both Zune's format, WMA and mp3's are what's called “lossy compression”. In this case you have an already compressed file being compressed again, resulting in terrible sound quality.
The Zune is really just a Toshiba Gigabeat (Toshiba makes it for Microsoft) with WiFi, but it costs more than a Gigabeat and has limitations that the Gigabeat doesn't have.
It's extremely buggy and people have had nothing but problems installing its software.
It doesn't work with Firefox or Windows Media Player. You must use the much inferior Zune Player.
It only comes in three colors: White, Black and ummmm....errr.....Brown?
Lastly, Microsoft caved in to the music industry demands for a piece of every Zune sold because the music industry views mp3 players as theft devices, thus empowering the RIAA. (Recording Industry Artists Association)
But hey, don't take my word for it...see below:

Just say no to the Zune, either wait for Apple to update the video iPod or take a look at the Archos 604 or Creative's Zen Vision (either “M” or “W”) line instead.
