I believe its because of conditions placed upon the fighting of wars,War is to be won or lost,no conditions until surrender. They saw or had the vision to see past WWII and realize the threat of Russia,as Patton wanted to invade Russia right after the war because he saw the new threat there,Truman,a democrat, whom I can admire even though I'm a republican, helped to create the allied forces, which included Russia, whom were only needed to create a pinser move on Germany at the end of the war(basically too little too late) and the allies including America rolled over and gave them a great slice of the pie(eastern block Europe)so they proved that wars can be held off politically, but not forever, and if we play war by rules, there can be no decise victory and no spoils for the winner

Gen. MacArthur for me. The protection plan on the Phil. that happen in the process the eastern invasion exchange into not his "plan", his very own plan exchange into to pull returned all of the rigidity to Bataan it is observed later on even although that's too previous due. Patton is unquestionably a great attacking prevalent, the conflict of the bulge exchange into no experience, one hundred and first exchange into already kick the Nazi butts earlier Patton arrives. MacArthur commanded lots of "D-days" interior the Pacific.

They were warriors who didn't want to quit until all our enemies were vanquished. Patton want to over-run the Russians and take back eastern europe and McArthur spoke out against the Commander-in-chief. He didn't want to fight Korea he wanted to take Bejing. Two generations later the west won the cultural war with Russian where freedom and Capitalism conquered communism. In the far east it is a slower process but capitalism has already taken hold in the Chinese coastal cities and freedom wont be far behind.

I've never heard of either one of them ever saying anything like that. A source would be helpful.
