It is a state law in my state that teachers have to provide a safe and bully free environment for their students. My 6 year old nephew who is in first grade has been puttng up with 2 bullies this whole year, one has even pushed him off of a slide! He says these two students pick on everyone except each other and they get in trouble for misbehaving in class but why isn't the teacher doing anything about the bullying? In my opinion this shouldn't be going on in FIRST GRADE and if they're like this now what will they be like in 8 years? Is there anything we can do about it besides talking to the teacher which doesn't seem to be productive?

Ask the teacher if he or she has sent the children to the counselor and/or principal. They might have some kind of behavior problem that the counselor is trying to work on with the parents. You never know, they might already be trying to handle the problem - it can't happen overnight, unfortunately. The key is to talk the teacher. If the teacher doesn't seem to care, talk to the principal. Hope that helped.

Have the parents talk to the teacher. Try not to be confrontational. Ask if the teacher has noticed the bullying. Remember, you want the teacher's help so try not to put him/her on the defensive. Perhaps the bullies are already in the process of being identified as needing extra support. The teacher should be willing to give suggestions on dealing with the bullies.
If you cannot get any satisfaction from the teacher after a week or so, ask the principal for their assistance.

For starters, bullying unfortunately starts as soon as kids go to school. I empathize with your nephew. I was bullied from 1st grade on too.

Second, it's possible that the teacher either doesn't know your nephew is experiencing this, or hasn't a clue how to stop the bullies. If the teacher has been contacted and has yet to do anything, then at this point, the Vice Principal or Principal should be called in.

My 33yr old son was in the same situation in first grade I also hit a brick wall with teachers as luck happens I had a cousin in the police force who informed me that here in Australia it is law that if a child is 9yrs old they can be taken to court for assalt he said that telling the bully/ies this is often enough to deter the behaviour. It was the case with my son until he started High School when the bully began again My son decked him and that was the end of the bullying. Have him taught martial arts and let it be known amongst the kids! Good luck

When i was getting bullied in my primary school - my mum also went and spoke to the teacher as the teacher thought that i was getting the bruises from home - so i told my mum who the bully was and she quietly went up to the boy and told him that if she ever found out that i was being bullied again that she would take him to the police and put him in jail - he never bullied me after that

If the teachers/staff/school administration know about it and still do nothing about it, you might be able to press charges, expecially since there are other childre. I am sure the other kids parents have noticed it too, and we know that the bullies parents know dam well about it.
