I keep getting pop up balloons telling me that my computer is infected with a back door Trojan, and that I should download malware removal software. Please Help!!!

I had that same virus on my computer, but thank God I had Symantec Antivirus. You should try it. Hope this helps.

Lavasoft's Ad-Aware (downloaded from www.cnet.com is a good start). Removes many of these buggers. Then visit www.mcafee.com and select home user. At the bottom of that page are Free Services, which includes a free scan. This will find whatever Ad-Aware didn't. Make a note of what McAfee finds and delete them yourself. (McAfee is great if you are stuck with dial-up.)

If you have a higher speed connection, www.trendmicro.com has a more powerful scanner for free that will also remove/clean the files. But its like 20 megs or more, and isn't really dial-up friendly.
