i heard from a couple doctors that teething causes fever, and others have told me differently. my daughter never got a fever from teething, however, she did get a fever from ear infections, almost every time she was teething from the excess mucus in her system that teething causes. just be aware that it could be something else.

Well it is not a myth as my two kids have had either fever or colds only at the time their teeth are coming in and some doctors do believe there is a conection but not all of them. I do not think anyone has scientifically proven either way so no one really knows why. However just because not every child reacts like this does not mean it is a myth. My Daughter has been teething 4 teeth at a time for the past few weeks and has not been well with a runny nose. My other Daughter now 5 years old was exactly the same and that is often how I knew the teeth were coming.
Just deal with the pain with a little tylenol or tempra and that should help the fever too!

I have 3 boys and none of them ever got fevers when they teethed. I have heard and read that that is a myth.

I think it is because the teeth coming out from their little gums leaves them vulnerable to infection. The fever comes from the body fighting the infection.

The two are not related. The teething causes stress therefore breaks down the immune system and can cause illness. Give lots of TLC to your baby and make a Dr's appointment.

They get fever because TEETHING IS PAINFUL, SO THE BABY'S BODY IS FIGHTING THE PAINFUL STIMULI BY THEIR HORMONES INSIDE THEIR BODY. SO FIGHTING IT MAKES THE BODY HOT, WHICH LEADS TO FEVER.

DONT WORRY ITS A NORMAL FIGHTING REACTION OF THE HUMAN BODY. NOT ONLY BABIES ALSO IT HAPPENS TO OLDER PEOPLE LIKE US.

GOOD DAY!
