my setup is from a cable modem to a wireless router then connects to a switch via hardwire. now i want to add more wireless range to the remote area. so can i use a wireless router and connect it to the switch?? please reply thanks.

yes...it's very simple

log into the router and give it a static IP address that is out of the range of your DHCP sever. so if your DHCP server is set for 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.10 make the AP 192.168.1.11

Turn off the DHCP server function. connect a segment of Ethernet from your router to the LAN port of the router now turned AP...

you are done...

Yes, you can quite easily

Depending on the model, all you need to do is disable DHCP and assign it a static IP address somewhere in your network's range (you can find this out by your "primary" router. Once you program that in, you're good to go/

Unless your router has a "Use as Repeater or Access Point Option" in its configuration then no. There are a few that do, but not very many.

if its a new modle the yes you can, i have my router set up as an access point
