I didn't really mean to do it...it just sort of happened. But now I don't know what to do. OK, so here's what happened...

You know that little tag on the bed that says, "Do not remove under penalty of law". Well, I sort of removed it....Now I don't know what's gonna happen to me!!

How much time do i have to serve for something like this? Does anyone have any suggestions about what I should do now?!?!?!

Please, someone, HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, ~Katie~

Oh Boy! You're in BIG trouble! The polices will hunt you down for this crime! You'll be in prison, that's for sure. The best thing you should do is change your identity so that no one will find you!

Here use this identity:
Full legal Name: Oh No!
Place of Birth: Jupiter, came to planet Earth by the North Star
Date of Birth: too long ago to remember
Currently living in the North Pole with Santa Claus
Occupation: Work with Santa Claus!
Caller ID: "Sorry, you can't contact this person anymore because she moved." Nah-nah, boo boo :P

Just Kidding! :) Sorry, I don't know what's got into my head these days...

If you can't tape the warning back on, just place it on the matress. Or ask a worker and tell them the truth. Don't worry, there won't be any penalties! :) May I ask a question? (that one didn't count) Why DID you remove the warning tag? Just out curosity, that's all.

That only applies before the mattress is sold. Merchants must retain the tags so the consumer can verify that the mattress is new and - hopefully - clean, and not infested by bedbugs or lice.

Once the mattress is bought, the owner can of course remove the tag. But he/she cannot legally sell it without the tag.

Obviously you should never buy a mattress without a tag. It may be used and unsanitary for a number of reasons.

Ok, you're going to have to remove the evidence...and I'm not just talking about the tag...but if they find the bed without the tag you'll be busted!! So my advice is this...

Do you have a little brother?
Drag your bed into his room and swap it over. That way he'll get busted for removing the tag and you'll get away with it all!!

If not, then you're going to have to start shredding the bed into tiny little pieces...just like a paper shredder. They cant tell if the tag is on it or not if it's shredded now can they!?

QUICK YOU DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME!! My brother did this once and I haven't seen him since they took him away...

*PHEW* Crisis averted...

Relax.

Read the rest of the tag. There is language on there that says something like.. "except by consumer".

There is no law that says you can't de-tag your own mattress.

The tag cannot be removed by the manufacturer, wholesaler, or retailer. It contains content information that they legally Have to disclose. ( You might have an allergy to polyester or something, and they are required to let you know what's in it before you decide to buy it.)

You have about 30 minutes before your local SWAT team is mobilized. The tags have a RF ID chip in them, and can sense when they have been removed. They know exactly where that tag is and where you are now...the best thing you can do is just play dumb and hope they don't shoot you full of holes. Otherwise you are going to jail for LIFE.

You're all right. You are the consumer, so you have full right to take the tag off. Don't worry. No bed-tag-remover sniper is gonna come get you. Relax

If you are the rightful owner, you are allowed to remove the tag.

Inpform the concerned people that you removed the tag and admit the offense so that you can use it as a mitigating circumstance.
