world or warcarft
first if ur going to pay monthly for a game it should be good in all areas.
wow has great graphics, awsome gamplay and loads to do.
runescape has horrible graphics, gameplay is ok, lots to do but gets very very boring.
if u want a good game go get silkroad http://silkroadonline.net its better than both games and its free

Runescape: Limited play but you only need to pay $5 for members! Bad HUD, a lot of skills, limited levels, short world, millions of people, updates for great reasons, no cheats/glitches.
World Of Warcraft: Normal play but you need to BUY the game and pay monthly, better HUD, lots of skills, attacks, and spells, unlimited levels (I think,) barely any updates, HUGE world, billions of people, a few glitches (i don't think any cheats)
These are the differences in between them. I'd say both, but if you're a short spender,but short gaming player, then Runescape.
If you're a Big spender, and huge gaming player, then WoW.

WOW is pretty awesome though i have't played runescape so i can't really compare. the only thing that is gay about wow is that with the new expansion it kinda makes the original unplayable because you need all these updates tha you get with the expansion.... but its totally up to what you wanna play
