i'm new to pc gaming and i'd like to know which half life is the best for online multiplayer? im quite the noob, so if you want to add anything, explain well

The first half life is where its at. No one plays the original game, but plays the mod for it called Counter-Strike. Depending on how new your PC is you might want to look into the Battlefield series of games. They are great for online multiplayer. Currently Battlefield2 and Battlefield 2142 are the hottest shoot-em-up type games in my opinion.

Half life the original is the only version I've actually seen people play multiplayer, and it's been far and few between. Everyone plays counter strike including myself, which is modification of half life. I got counter strike free when I purchased half life.
