What did you think of the balcony Scene in Romeo and Juliet?

It is definitely one of the most famous scenes in all drama for a reason. Every word can be studied for what seems like infinite allusions and literary tricks. Suffice it to say that it is the paragon of the constant paradoxes that comprise every aspect of the play.

On an emotional level, the brilliant film "Shakespeare in Love" really gets to the "heart of both the balcony scene and the whole play.

I think it was funny, you have i teenage guy basically easdropping on a girls innermost thoughts which most girls would find horrifying. all the while he is risking his life to be with this girl that he just met. So unless you believe in love at first sight, it all seems rather silly. Then you have the dimwitted nursemaid running around trying to protect the girl and doing a pretty crappy job. Their passion for each other is rather touching though, but i also found it funny that Juliet saw right through all his charming words and was like, oh yeah well if you really love me you will marry me. That all sounds kinda cynical now that i read it back, but I really did enjoy that story.

I love it. It is so full of the passions of first adolescent love, but deeper (because marriage was a real possibility for Juliet at that time--her father was plotting it). I love the back and forth of the two lovers, and Juliet's desire for the love to be more than infatuation or the words of young man just "playing" at love.
