Alot of female dogs has false pregnancies and produce milk because it is a instinct that goes back to history when dogs were wild and in packs. What would happened in packs that the leader mother dog would have a litter and then go off to search for food for herself and others and while she would be out, the other female dogs would take over the care of the litter by nursing them the milk that they produced by having a false pregnancy until she returned.

If she's pregnant she should be whelping any day now (especially if she's producing milk).

The general period of gestation for dogs is 58 to 62 days. Most puppies born before 58 days may not survive. To make sure your dog is on-track with her pregnancy you, of course, will need to know the day or week during which she was bred.

About 12 to 24 hours before the birth, the dam’s temperature may drop a couple of degrees. If her normal temperature is, say, 101°, it may drop to about 99° or 98°. The only way you’ll know if her temperature is dropping, of course, is if you regularly take her temperature. Twice a day – once in the morning and once in the evening dur-ing the latter part of her pregnancy – is usually sufficient.
The onset of labor is usually accompanied by heavy panting, pacing, and “nest building” behaviors. The dog may whine throughout the process, shriek at the birth of each puppy, or be completely silent. When hard labor starts, the contractions become more severe. The dam’s panting will escalate a bit, and she may “hunch” over and/or lift her tail with each contraction. Just before the birth of each pup, you’ll see the puppy as a “bulge” just under the dam’s tail.

It IS possible, however, for dogs to have "false pregnancies", so taking her to a vet is an excellent idea. The vet will be able to verify if she's pregnant or not and will be able to tell you how many pups she'll be having.

It could be a false pregnancy, my ***** had a false pregnancy her last cycle, she got milk, gained weight, and even went into labor. I would have her x rayed to see if there are any puppies and if so do a c-section. How far past her due date is she?
