searching out information to find the answer is one thing, however, I would NEVER use wikipedia as a reliable source, you crazy? you can go in there and change it to say anything you want, add to it, delete items, add your own name in there. i took a course in college, and if we used wiki as a source, marks were taken off assignments because it is NOT a reliable source.

It depends on if they paste the whole lot or just the relevant bit. If someone pastes a few lines from wikipedia that give a concise and well defined answer then it is quite vaild. If they just paste a whole article then they are being lazy and don't deserve best answer.

If the question regards a very technical subject matter, the Wikipedia cut and paste may be the best. If it is a question involving common knowledge, opinion, etc. the answerer should be original.

People that do Copy from Wikipedia Don't relize how it works, And 15 % of the time doesn't have the complete information or Sometimes the wrong Dates posted.

If more people knew how Wikipedia worked they would just enter Stupid stuff, and more wrong information...

Seriously! I did some serious research into an answer for a user's question. Did a pretty thorough job I think--went to different sites, drew from personal experience, listed my source--and an obvious paste job got voted BA over mine.

They have gone to the trouble of researching a question for you (which you could have done yourself).
That said, I prefer to see a short answer with a link to the relevant information, than masses of pasted info.
Remember, unless you have a encyclopedic memory most people have to rely on on-line help.

Well, it's good that they look things up but it is lazy that they just cut and paste. They should put the answer into their own words.

However, I think it is worse when people cut and paste from the answers above them!

some times it is all that is needed to give the information required.

at least the person took the time to look it up which is more than could be said about the person asking the question lol

and in difference of the person asking the question it could be a case of unsure where to look

so i would say look at it from both sides before you judge any one

Isn't this site about answering questions with as accurate of answers as possible. If Wikipedia provides good, accurate information then you shouldn't fault someone for providing it, so long as they site their source.

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree with you.

Well, at least they do a little more work than those that answer with one or two words, or flames, or ask stupid questions that don't need answers. So, for their bit of research on behalf of the person who asked the question and couldn't bother to research their question themselves... I think they deserve a point or two.
