If you tile first you have better protection from water rotting out the floor if you ever get a leak under your sink. And some cabinets now have a drawer at the bottom of the sink cabinet. And has very little clearance from the floor. Either way plan carefully.

In a bathroom, I like to put in the "flooring" first, then the cabinet. It's not a lazy thing, I think it looks better around the base. Plus if you ever come back and want to switch out the cabinet base for a pedestal sink or a smaller or bigger cabinet it doesn't cause any problems with the floor.

If the cabinets are there to stay, tile last. You will need less tile and you can either bank the difference or get nicer tile. Unless your room is perfect you're going to have to cut the same amount of tiles either way.

You need to remove the toilet and the sink and cabinet in the bathroom BEFORE you install the tile. Nothing should be on the floor except the tub and you will tile up to there. My suggestion is to start on the side next to the tub it is easier to fit whole tiles next to the tub and easier to cut tiles that will be behind the toilet & sink.
Good Luck

I wouldn't tile around the cabinets because chances are the tile will be there long after the cabinets (if you are talking about ceramic tile) and then you will have to get the exact same size cabinets if you decide to replace them before the tile.

If you gutted the whole bathroom I lay the floor first. Looks better to me. Plus cabinets are made for a floor to be in. You will have a smaller toe kick (At the bottom of cabinet were your foot goes) Something to think about...

I do a lot of handyman work. I have done it both ways and frankly it is 6 of one and half a dozen of another. Given the choice and especially in my own home, I would tile first, do a good cleanup, seal the tiles, set the cabinets and install the baseboard. in that order. I even pull the toilet up when I do stuff for myself.

You should put cabinet in first and cut tile to put around it. Looks more professional. But you can take the lazy way.

INSTALL CABINETS/AND IF YOU HAVE A TUB THAT'S HAS A SKIRT OR IS SET INTO A FRAME THAT COVERS OUTSIDE OF IT. INSTALL BEFORE TILE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO TILE AS MUCH OF FLOOR AREA. IT'LL SAVE $$.
