i want to conect my laptop that is running xp home edition to my desktop that is running windos ME and they both have ethernet ports. is there a way the i could wire them together with a cat 5 cable.or something like that.. i was just wondering to see if i could have gaming competitions w/ my computer, with the game starwars jedi knght. well ....thanx 4 ur help

Use a CAT5 crossover cable and assign static IP's to each computer.

In order to do what you say you are trying to do, the machine that already has the internet connection will have to have TWO Ethernet cards. One for the WAN (ISP) and one to connect the other computer to it.
