While it would be nice to get more, if you don't have to do much for the kid, then the rate is nice and gives you something to put on your resume.

Yeah, maybe. If you are just a regular person with no training on babysitting then yeah that's the rate. Plus the kid is 8 years. It's not like it's 8 months or something. When they can care for themselves the rate is not as much. If you want to get paid more work in a daycare center.

Sounds high to me. I pay $75 a week for 9 hours a day for 1 child. If I go by the hourly rate like I do during school I pay $2 an hour. This is a local state licensed daycare center with trained personnel. I live Nebraska.

It fairly relies upon on what percentage little ones you're observing. i imagine that $3 is to low regardless of in case you're only observing one baby. notwithstanding, i does no longer say how a lot you want to receives a fee, and only enable the relatives pay you what they imagine is ideal. I babysit a lot now and that i only enable the households pay me and it fairly works out acceptable. i receives a fee everywhere from $5-$15 an hour and it is babysitting a million-6 little ones at a time. i began to babysit even as i grow to be virtually 12 years old and that i only placed fliers on the mailboxes to get the observe out that i had taken a babysitting direction, and intensely right now i grow to be receiving many telephone calls. good success! i wish I helped!

Well, that is cheap for that age of child, look around at other babysitters rate, and compare their rates with experience with yours. If you don't have much experience with kids then you wont get much more. Now 35 Dollars a week might not sound like much (cause it's not) but look at it on a daily basis. Feel fee to talk to the people you babysit and tell them you feel your worth more money, but don't expect too much more, and don't accept a pathetic offer of 50 cents and hour more because that's an insult to you. I would ask for $5/h to start with, you might get more, might not, don't let them talk you down to less though, that's still a good cheap rate for them.

$3 per hour is a little higher than average, at least here in Oregon. Our average is $2.00-$2.50 per hour, per child. If the child is not yet potty trained, usually a little higher fee is paid for the extra work! So yes, $3/hour for an 8yr old is pretty good.

for 10 hours everyday. Thats a long time out of your schedule. I usually charge about 5 dollars. and an 8 year old you have to entertain too. and cook for

how old are you?? if you are under 16, then that is fine....but if you are over 16, maybe you should find yourself a real job.

i used to babysit two children for two bucks an hour cuz their mom was really cheap and depressing. she would always come up with some excuse for why she couldnt pay me......

when I was growin up the rate was .50 cents per hr, and now that I have 3 boys, I couldn't believe the rate was 5 bucks for one and continued consideration for the others.
I think you have to choose your battles, if the woman couldn't pay more even though its worth more, do you want to stay; renegotiate the salary; or move on the another and get what you're worth.

I'd say that's reasonable. Most people who don't send their children to daycare or after school care can't afford it, so $3 per hour makes sense. I make that much for watching three kids, so consider yourself lucky!
